Target hits convenience, inspiration in next-gen store

Target has opened a store in Richmond, Texas, under its “next generation” format, which features two separate entrances to cater to shoppers’ different needs. Inside one entrance, meant to provide convenience for busy shoppers, is a supermarket-like layout, prepared meals and other grab-and-go items and curbside and in-store order pickup; while the other entrance, which is meant to inspire shoppers on leisurely trips, features a department store-like feel with seasonal items, beauty products and specialty brands.
